SULU – To reinforce the campaign against all types of illicit gambling, Pangutaran MPS conducted Anti-Illegal Gambling Operation also known as “BALASA/MONTI” that resulted to the arrest of eight (
individuals at Sitio Pamasan, Brgy. Simbahan, Pangutaran, Sulu around 3:00 AM of May 29, 2022.
Six (6) of the arrested suspects were all of legal age and residents of Pangutaran, Sulu while two (2) are still minors and were turned over to the Ministry of Social Services and Development of Pangutaran and their parents.
Subsequently, the arrested suspects will face charges for violation of PD 1602 amended by RA 9287 (Illegal Gambling and Lottery) and were brought to Pangutaran MPS together with the recovered pieces of evidence such as bet money amounting to Php 46,539.00, playing cards, and other gambling paraphernalia for proper disposition.
PBGEN ARTHUR R CABALONA, Regional Director, PRO BAR reminded the public to refrain from operating illegal gambling, as they will be meted with the corresponding charges and penalties under the law.
