          CAMP BGEN SALIPADA K PENDATUN, Parang, Maguindanao – Two members of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) has decided to lay their arms and return to government fold at about 10:00 a.m. of December 21, 2020 in Datu Montawal, Maguindanao.         

          The two BIFF rebels, whose real names are being withheld for security reasons and known for their aliases as Tata and Datu Pax under Commander Cosme of BIFF Karialan Faction, surrendered to government authorities and received by  the Local Chief Executive of Datu Montawal, Mayor Ohto C. Montawal together with the PRO BAR police in their municipality.

        The surrenderees yielded their firearms including a 50 Caliber Barret with ammunitions and a Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG). They surrendered through the intensified intelligence information operation of PNP units in Maguindanao and initiative of Local Government Unit of Datu Montawal.

          Toto and Datu Pax said that they were present during the assembly of more or less 200 leaders and members of BIFF Local Terrorist Group who was responsible in Datu Piang incident last December 3, 2020 but they did not took part in the actual attack. According to them, they decided to avail of the government’s offer of a new life for the sake of their family. "Dahil sa hirap sa pagtatago ang isa sa mga sanhi kung bakit kami sumuko sa pamahalaan” one of the surrenderees said.

           PRO BAR, with the unwavering support of the Local Government Unit of Datu Montawal against terrorism and violent extremism, convinced the two just like their previous comrades, to return to the folds of the government in support to the peace and development program of the government.

        The two former rebels’ successful surrender was part of the multi-pronged approach of the Bangsamoro Task Force on Ending Local Armed Conflict (BTF-ELAC) under the Executive Order 70 or the National Task Force Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), through the initiatives of the Local Officials and peace loving citizens of Datu Montawal Municipality.

         Regional Director, PRO BAR Police Brigadier General Samuel P Rodriguez is calling the other members and leaders of BIFF and inspired Dawlah Islamiyah Group to lay down their arms to the government and return to the folds of law in order to achieve lasting peace in Maguindanao. Rest assured that they will be supported by the government to start a new life.
