BASILAN – One (1) drug personality was neutralized in Anti-Illegal Drug Operation after an armed encounter with the police in Sumisip, Basilan on May 17, 2021.
The report of Basilan Police Provincial Office to Police Brigadier General Eden T Ugale revealed that at about 11:00 PM of May 17, 2021, combined elements of Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit led by PCAPT ALFADDA J OSALLI and Sumisip MPS, conducted entrapment/ drug buy bust operation in Barangay Buli-Buli, Sumisip, Basilan against the suspect identified as Rakman Tarzan, of legal age, married and resident of Tabuan – Lasa.
As a result, after selling of suspected shabu to the PNP agents, the suspect sensed the presence of operating unit and immediately shot the operating personnel using his caliber 45.
The operatives prompted to defend themselves using their issued firearms which resulted to the neutralization of the suspect. The operatives recovered pieces of evidence from the suspect possession: one piece jumbo pack heat-sealed transparent sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be Shabu with an estimated value of two hundred thousand pesos (Php 200,000.00); 1000 pesos bill (PhP1000); nine (9) pieces of one thousand pesos (1000) boodle money; one caliber 45 Colt chamber loaded with five (5) live ammunition; one magazine; and one (1) Cellphone.
Recovered pieces of evidence are now in the custody of SOCO Team in for examination and proper disposition while the cadaver of suspect was subsequently released to his immediate family for burial rights.
Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region has always been firm in its war against illegal drugs. Drug peddling is a crime and these acts are the reasons why “Shabu” is still thriving. It steals lives and bring about social ills in the community.
