Sulu – One (1) drug personality was arrested in a checkpoint operation by elements of K Caluag Municipal Police Station in Sulu and Marine Battalion Landing Team – 7 at Barangay Karungdong, K Caluang, Sulu on June 7, 2021.

             Report from Sulu Police Provincial Office disclosed that suspect identified as Basar Illam Jalih, male, 41 years old and resident of Sitio Pagayoh, Barangay Pang of the said municipality was intercepted and arrested for bringing illegal drugs and firearms.

             Operating units recovered from suspect's possession and control are: one (1) sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, approximately amounted to seventy three thousand pesos ( Php 73,000.00); one (1) weighing scale; one (1) unit of caliber .45 1911 with one (1) magazine, and seven (7) round ammunition.

           After documentation, inventory, and marking of evidence on the site of operation, the arrested suspect was brought to the nearest hospital for medical examination while confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Sulu Provincial Crime Laboratory Office for examination.

             The arrested suspect was properly informed of his constitutional rights in a dialect understood by him. Cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, RA 10591, and RA 9516 is set to be filed against the suspect.

            Police Brigadier General Eden T Ugale, Regional Director, PRO BAR commends the operatives behind this operation. He reiterates that PRO BAR is determined to continually intensify its PNP anti-criminality checkpoint - PNP campaign against illegal drugs and loose firearms in the region.

             The Regional Director assures the public that PRO BAR is determined to thwart criminal activities and terroristic acts towards the attainment of a safer and prosperous Bangsamoro region.
